17 - 19 December 2010
WestFest has fast become an event. The big September festival was amazing - over the weekend of 4th & 5th September, hundreds of visitors packed our shops, restaurants and bars and enjoyed the very best that our West Didsbury independents have to offer. Although we won't have the balmy weather we enjoyed in September, we're doing it again, next weekend - 18th & 19th December. We may have Lady Luck on our side again, in terms of the weather, and have a few flakes of snow...
XmasWestFest won't be on the same scale as the annual September events, simply because the businesses are busy with Christmas - but there'll be many festive treats going on in West Didsbury. With so many gorgeous shops, restaurants, salons and bars why not pop down and see what's on offer?. And, in doing so, help to keep our beautiful little corner of South Manchester thriving. That's the whole point of WestFest - and we couldn't put it any better than Jeanette Winterson -
"I like a neighbourhood, and that is not the same as a road leading to a supermarket... I don’t like the chilly world of corporate retail – not the food shops, not the bookshops, not the chain stores. I prefer individuality and eccentricity and self-determination – all the things the free market is supposed to deliver and never does, because markets soon become homogenous and anti-competitive."
