West Didsbury Residents’ Association is a voluntary, non-partisan organisation formed in 1983 by local people who feared that some property developments were changing the face of the area and that, if nothing was done, our architecture, trees, wildlife and community spirit might be lost. Since then, we have worked hard to build the strong, local activist group that we are today. We have over 300 members and the Council liaises with us on all local planning issues. In the course of our negotiations over new developments, we have saved trees, influenced architectural features and fought successfully against overdevelopment. At the same time, we actively encourage investors who recognise local needs and respect the feeling of the area.
