Last Christmas West Didsbury had its first public Christmas tree and switch on event; this was solely funded by the Council.
We want to have a Christmas tree and associated street decorations again this year, but the Council has said it cannot fully fund this and we must seek financial help from local traders, as Didsbury village etc. does.
Rather than approaching local shops, restaurants and bars for money we thought it would be more effective to organise a Prize Draw based around donated prizes from local businesses instead.
The Prize Draw will be launched in conjunction with WestFest to maximise publicity for all, and drawn a few weeks later.
Tickets will be £2 each, selling from the WDRA stall over WestFest weekend outside the Co-op on Burton Road and at various venues afterwards. We hope to raise at least £1000 for the lights and tree.
